I’d like to thank Dave of Thoughts Aloud for the first written review of “Is Barack Obama’s Birth Certificate a Fraud?” Here’s an excerpt:
“[Dr. Jerome Corsi of WorldNetDaily] has produced an impressive array of so-called experts from several different fields, who each claim to have definitive proof that the PDF file released by Obama was not a scan of an official document, but was created with graphic software in a cut & paste job from other legitimate BCs.
While some of Corsi’s earlier pronouncements were laughable, and to my mind embarrassing (the ‘smiley face’ in Alvin as part of the forger’s ‘signature’ comes to mind), the sheer number of anomalies highlighted by these folks was so overwhelming that I, like untold thousands of others, had succumbed to repeating the notion that the PDF file was not only a forgery, but a hopelessly amateurish, sloppy, and obvious one. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I dismissed the so-called experts the Obots put forward claiming otherwise, as obviously partisan, because nobody could possibly explain away all of the anomalies.
Oops… not so fast. Last evening, I stumbled across a comment to an eligibility issue related article I had just read, mentioning a new book by someone purporting to be a TEA Party conservative, supposedly debunking all the forgery claims. Reckoning that to be an impossible task, I immediately assumed it was an Obot masquerading as a conservative, and that the book would avoid dealing with the really serious flaws, in another typical BS storm of obfuscating blather, so typical of the Obots. Still, I was curious to see what they were up to, so I went looking for this new author.”
Thanks for the link; and thanks for the eyeopening book. ◄Dave►

Thank you, Dave! As an author with a controversial topic, my hope is that people will actually read the book and then judge it carefully and honestly, rather than just dismissing it out of hand. When that happens, it’s greatly appreciated. So thanks again!

This could end up being good for business, John:

Personally, I believe that Sheriff Arapaio is hopelessly corrupt, but I welcome any publicity around the birther issue as it helps President Obama. The only question in my mind is will this fizzle out or will it be a spectacular fail?
Corrupt? How so?
Searching for “arpaio corruption” (no quotes) yields almost 300,000 results – here’s a typical example:

Oh, I see how that works. I tried ‘Obama corruption’ and it yielded 16,400,000 results. There was even a book with that as the title. 😉 ◄Dave►
I linked an example that showed how Sheriff Arpaio was corrupt – what does that have to do with President Obama? If you want to argue that he’s not corrupt, then defend him from the charges in the article.
Did you READ the article you linked? I thought it was a joke. Did you really wish me to take it seriously? I thought you guys were sticklers on credibility… ◄Dave►
Yes, I read it – what made you think it was a joke and unreliable?
> I welcome any publicity around the birther issue

You know, I thought about this, and I think you could be correct.
In fact, I just read an article that says as much.
Part of my whole calculation was the question, “If I finish and publish this book, is there the possibility I might help Mr. Obama?” In the end, I decided that publishing the book probably wouldn’t make much difference in any direction. And I still think that. But it does seem to me that it has a chance at least of helping take away the left’s ability to say, look, all of President Obama’s opponents are Fruit Loops.
I think that inasmuch as your book does anything, it does what you say and as an ardent progressive and supporter of President Obama as the far lesser of two evils (my opinion), I’m still glad you did it. Kicking the crazies to the curb helps raise the debate and is good for all of us – far more important that the petty attempt to score partisan points that has characterized so much of our politics recently. I’m all for you denying me the opportunity to say that the right is full of Fruit Loops by getting rid of them yourselves.
Yep, could be!
April 2012: Having reached firm conclusions on the birther movement (see my various most recent and wrap-up posts), I’m moving on, and to facilitate that I’m closing comment sections of this blog as I do so.
My feeling is that the things that need to be said have already been said.
That said, if you feel you have a comment to some post here that’s really, REALLY important and ought to be added to the site, email it to me. If I agree, I’ll add it.
Sincerely,
John Woodman
